SOLAR BATTERIES

Batteries for solar applications are typically deep-cycle lead-acid batteries. These batteries are “deep-cycle” because they are specially designed for long working lives under conditions of daily charging and discharging. Deep cycle batteries also come in 3 major types: flooded (or wet), gelled, and AGM. Flooded batteries require the regular maintenance of adding ionized/distilled water to their liquid electrolyte. Despite flooded batteries are cheaper (than gelled or AGM), this regular maintenance and also safety issues in mounting and transportation make them less popular now. Gelled and AGM batteries, on the other hand, are sealed batteries and do not require any maintenance. For this reason we only carry only high-quality gelled and AGM batteries produced by select manufacturers only.
